With snow falling around us, and temperatures just above freezing, Mrs Jubb and Mrs Fletcher Jones led our whole school assembly in hot weather African-style dresses.

Over half term in February Mrs Jubb and Miss Barrett will be visiting Jan Jan Bureh Nursery in Gambia to help train and support teachers at the school.

Mrs Fletcher-Jones told us about how she first met Head teacher Tida Manka and how the project has grown. It is clear from Mrs Jubb’s photos that a day in a Blue Coat Transition class is very different from one in Jan Jan Bureh Nursery.

This will be Miss Barrett’s first trip to Africa and despite having had many injections, she is, understandably, both excited and a little nervous about what lies ahead.

With the proceeds from the sale of old desks last year, we have already helped to build a toilet block…one toilet for the girls, one for the boys and one for the staff (there are over 200 children at the Nursery!)

Now we have the opportunity to support these children in a rather unusual way! Although many have managed to buy a school dress or school trousers, often there is no money to buy the children underwear.

We would like to fill extra cases with lots and lots of pairs of NEW pants and vests

AGE 3 – 5 YEARS ONLY : BOYS or GIRLS
Please do not buy any larger sizes!
Please bring them to PRE-PREP RECEPTION or PREP RECEPTION

We trust and pray that Mrs Jubb and Miss Barrett will have a safe and exciting trip as they spend time with the staff and children of Jan Jan Bureh Nursery.

We look forward to hearing all about it!

Thank you Mrs Jubb, Mrs Fletcher-Jones and Miss Barrett
