U10A Soccer v King Henry VIII (A)
Monday 30 January
Result: BCS 5 – 4 King Henry VIII
Most Valued Player: Bradley Roberts for excellent work rate and distribution
Report: In an ill tempered affair the U10A’s managed to keep their heads and win a closely fought game. There were excellent performances from Bradley Roberts and Samah Peerbux who showed excellent game understanding. This alongside the strength of Draper meant it was a good team performance. In attack the team scored some fantastic goals with excellent interplay. To improve the team needs to work hard on how to defend and not allowing runners to get behind the final line of defence.

U9C Soccer v King Henry VIII (H)
Tuesday 31 January
Blue Coat 5 – 1 King Henry VIII
Most Valued Player: Flynn McLoughlin for his tenacious tackling and all round performance.

A fantastic performance by the U9C team saw them register a convincing victory. The performance was a vast improvement on the week before with Flynn and Esaan outstanding and always threatening the opposition goal. To improve, the team still need to work on spreading out more and looking to pass to people in space more often.

Wednesday 1 February
Blue Coat 0 – 8 King Henry VIII
Most Valued Player: Hridya Sharma

The U11C’s came up against a very powerful King Henry side and were ruthlessly put to the sword by some fine finishing. The players tried hard but ended up literally boxed in in the penalty box and, at times it felt like the Alamo! To improve, the players need to play more games and learn how to pass accurately to each other.

U11A Netball Tournament (A)
Saturday 4 February
Result: 3rd
Most Valued Player: The whole team.

Early Saturday morning, with hair freshly braided, the U11 girls set off to Warwick to participate in their first netball tournament of the year. Each match was 8 minutes in one direction and so every goal counted. We started off well, beating the eventual Tournament winners, Maltman’s Green School A team 6-5. This was a closely-contested match but the girls played with real determination to get the win.

Our second match was versus Warwick Prep and their disorganisation seemed to interfere with our game plan and we lowered our standards to match their’s, losing 5-2. With time off court we regrouped and focussed on what we do well and we then beat The Croft 3-0. Rising in confidence and with everything to play for to get into the finals, we smashed St Helen’s and St Katherine’s 8-0. Unfortunately due to our loss, we didn’t get through but went on to win 3rd place against The Manor, beating them 9-4.

I was really impressed with the girls’ game play and we used this tournament as a learning curve for IAPS in early March. The team are working hard during training sessions and hopefully this will pay off.

Team Amy Wilson, Stephanie Otite, Sofia Knight, Paola Dietrich de Pablo, Maya Ahmed, Monique James-Thomas, Zoe Willcox, Lizzie Wigg, Maia Noonan and Tanya Leech.

U10A Soccer v Kings Hawford (H)
Monday 6 February
Blue Coat 2 – 3 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Kairav Singh for scoring both goals.

In a match dominated by Blue Coat, the inability to put the ball into the back of the net cost the team dearly. After an even first half in which King’s Hawford took a narrow lead due to a defensive error, the second half was completely one-way traffic, with the midfield of Peerbux and Roberts both excellent. However, the lack of confidence in front of goal and some excellent goal-keeping meant that the team were narrowly beaten. The team should be very proud of their performance and not worry about the result because they showed a huge amount of drive and determination in the second half. This showed fantastic spirit and if they play this well in the future they will win a lot of games.

Scorer: Kairav Singh

Monday 6 February
Blue Coat 5 – 2 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Josh Dhillon was clinical in front of goal.
The run continues for this superb outfit of U10Bs, playing with calmness and fantastic team ethic. The ability to pass from defence through midfield and continue to stretch forward is a delight to watch. Elias assisted most of the goals through excellent work in wide right positions, and providing accurate balls into the box. King’s also found it hard to break down Freddie and Shayan as central defenders not missing a tackle. Keep the team spirit going U10Bs!

Monday 6 February
Blue Coat 7 – 0 King’s Hawford
Blue Coat 6 – 1 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Everybody played well and gave their all for their team.

The Blue Coat C team was split into two teams and played a triangular against the King’s Hawford C team. In both cases Blue Coat won their respective matches. Blue Coat dominated both games from the outset and created a number of goal-scoring chances. The defence cleared their lines well by closing down the opposition and playing the ball forward. In attack, players dribbled well to create openings for crosses or passed around the penalty box to create goal-scoring opportunities.

U9A Soccer v King’s Hawford (A)
Tuesday 7 February
King’s Hawford 4 – 0 Blue Coat
Most Valued Player: Kieran O’Reilly was spectacular in goal.

Blue Coat knew this would be a tough match against strong opposition and they played with such intensity and spirit. An early goal threw us a little but we gained lots of possession, linking with right midfield Felix Iliff and passing the ball out calmly from defence in Luke Dolan. Kieran was kept busy in goal throughout the match, but his shot stopping and reaction to second phase made him look like a seasoned pro. The second half started brightly with Oliver Smith seeing lots of possession but we were just missing that decisive pass to play a forward through. King’s capitalised and scored their second with a ball over the top of our defence.

U9B Soccer v King’s Hawford (A)
Tuesday 7 February
Blue Coat 0 – 3 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Luca Romano for some outstanding saves.

The U9B Soccer team arrived at King’s Hawford, quickly warmed up and started the match. Both sides looked well- matched and either team could have taken the lead. AY had a long range effort whistle past the post, while Luca made a couple of early saves to keep the score at 0-0. King’s Hawford had an extended period of pressure and eventually broke the deadlock with a fine piece of interplay that star defenders Nahom and Isaac could not break down. The Hawford pressure was short lived as Nahom, AY and James put together some beautiful passing to keep Blue Coat in possession. Charlie was brilliant at the back and won every tackle he went for before looking to spread the ball wide to the skilful Jake and speedy Narayan. Dhruv worked hard up front as Blue Coat came into the game.

An equaliser did not come and as we pushed forward in the last two minutes in search of a goal that would bring a draw, King’s Hawford broke and doubled their advantage. Heads dropped and a third came within seconds. The game was closer than the scoreline suggested and every player worked their socks off. Well done, boys!

Tuesday 7 February
Blue Coat 0 – 10 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Flynn McLoughlin for his tenaciousness.

The U9C team came up against a very strong King’s Hawford side and were soundly beaten. They need to improve their game understanding by playing more invasion games to understand the tactical side of the game. The endeavour of a number of players though was good, with Flynn and Ehsan standing out. A number need to work hard at concentrating for the duration of the match and stay focussed in adversity.

Tuesday 7 February
Blue Coat 0 – 3 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Zuhair Ahmed for his never-say-die attitude, effort and determination throughout the match.

The Blue Coat team played extremely well but were beaten by a marginally better team. King’s Hawford opened the scoring following the award of a penalty. They increased their lead after a melee in the penalty area. As Blue Coat pushed to get back into the game they scored a third. Blue Coat created several chances and had a couple of free kicks around the box but failed to break down a stubborn King’s Hawford defence.

U9A Netball v Hallfield (H)
Tuesday 7 February
Blue Coat 1-5 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Bea Neeson- strong defensive skills

Blue Coat started well and took an early lead in the game. Sharp, quick passing got the ball down court and we were unlucky not to go score a few more. Hallfield got better each quarter, defending tight and in the second half their tall GA was able to get free in the D which allowed Hallfield to take the lead. The girls are learning to hold their space and at times did this really well but too often we get too crowded, all going for the same ball.

U9B Netball v Hallfield (H)
Tuesday 7 February
Blue Coat 4 – 0 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Daphne Xuan

Warmed up and ready to go, the girls began with great promise and Lauren started off the match well with her good centre passes. With consistent play from Ishani and Ava defending the flanks Hallfield couldn’t get through. We made a substitution and Matilda played with grit and determination to make sure the ball was hers. Gracie was shooting in her new position in the team and Elspeth was scoring with confidence. Jaya was using her height to intercept the ball and Daphne continued to link defence and attack. Overall a great team performance and Mrs Bennett may have even seen a Unicorn!

U11B Soccer v King’s Hawford (H)
Wednesday 8 February
Blue Coat 0 – 6 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Pranoy Nishanth for constant movement up front to create goal-scoring opportunities. Henry Martin for a dominant display in defence and bringing the ball out of defence successfully.

The Blue Coat team attempted all the right principles of play and tried very hard but they were beaten by a more physical team who proved more direct and incisive in their approach. King’s Hawford led at half time 4 – 0 but a good reaction from the Blue Coat team saw them only concede 2 goals in the second half and create a number of good goal-scoring chances.

U11A Soccer v King’s Hawford (H)
Wednesday 8 February
Blue Coat 3 – 5 King’s Hawford
Rohan Narayan-Hull: Playing the simple ball.

BCS turned up for this match with a spring in their step after their stunning victory last week – but conceding four goals eight minutes led to a disappointing defeat. The early signs looked ominous for the travelling team, and after early pressure and a number of missed opportunities, we took the lead when one of many flowing moves was finished off in style by Benito Pagliuca.

Two further goals from Shai Thompson and Rohan Narayan-Hull really put BCS in the box seat. It felt only a matter of time before the fourth and fifth goal arrived. But no, with five minutes of the first period left the Worcester side scored. Perhaps the ball had gone out of play before the Hawford striker tapped home from close range, but this was a lesson for all young players – play to the referee’s whistle!

As Shai Thompson bore down on the Worcester team’s goal, the referee blew for half time, and after the restart BCS pressed the self-destruct button, conceding those four goals in the blink of an eye. All credit to King’s, and to our goal keeper, Henry Trevis, who was completely faultless in this. Indeed, Henry deserves great credit for his saves and his great distribution from the back.

Aled James and Fintan Dowling in defence played well overall and worked hard to keep us in the game. They will both have learned much about coping under pressure in the future. I am sure they will build on the positives and go from strength to strength.

In the last ten minutes, having recovered from the shock, BCS pressed hard but could not break down a defiant King’s defence. Ollie Poole tried to magic something up, and, even as the game closed Rohan stayed focused. He always looked to play the simple ball, and is definitely one to watch out for in the future.

The game finished the way it started, with BCS pressing hard but to no avail. Substitutes Jovan Dhillon and Nivid Kharwadkar gave their all. Indeed, the boys can hold their heads high. They head to Solihull next week with a point to prove.

U11C Soccer v King’s Hawford (H)
Wednesday 8 February
Blue Coat 2 – 0 King’s Hawford
Most Valued Player: Ayaan Ali for good movement and positioning.

The U11C team bounced back in style with a fabulous victory against a strong Hawford side. The woes of the previous week were put behind them as the front two of Ayaan Ali and Noah Mohmand tore into King’s from the outset. The defence of Krishan Patel and Hasan Ahmed stood firm against the deceptive Billy Laight playing for King’s Hawford! When Billy managed to escape the clutches of the defensive pairing he was thwarted by the post or Hridya “”the rock”” Sharma who was in fine form in goal. Overall it was a great improvement on the previous week.

U11C Netball v RGS The Grange (H)
Wednesday 8 February
Blue Coat 10 – 0 RGS The Grange
Most Valued Player: Aruya Ahmed

Having to play back to back the team had waited patiently for their match and had cheered for our girls beforehand. Nitara moved well around the court as Centre, and with good linking attack from Katie and Ines we soon dominated the match. Evie kept switched on in defence although in one quarter she never even got to touch the ball as nothing was getting past Amrita or Emmie in the goal third, With Aruya and Qurrathulain sharing the responsibility as shooter, we steamed ahead. Ria came on as centre but the match was well won and finished 10-0 to Blue Coat.

U11D Netball v RGS The Grange (H)
Wednesday 8 February
Blue Coat 8 – 0 RGS The Grange
Most Valued Player: GevéPereira

This was a true display of strength and depth amongst The Blue Coat girls as they displayed an act of netball dominance over RGS. The team completely outwitted the RGS girls, with Karishma and Saru linking well in attack and Gevé advising who was free in the goal third. Although GS is not Aminah’s preferred position she still worked hard for the team and tried her best to score. In defence Jess and Rosabella were on fire, intercepting passes from RGS and turning the ball around. Avneet moved from GK to shooter and scored an amazing goal near the edge of the circle. A match played in an excellent spirit with the girls showing their understanding of all positions.
