Children in Reception have had an “out of this world” time this half term exploring the topic of “Shooting Stars”. This has covered a range of exciting activities including fabulous space-station and rocket role-play areas, making moon rocks, moon sand and rockets, investigating far off planets (real and imaginary), and learning about space travel.

The children have produced some fantastic space themed art work and have recreated space-themed stories such as “Whatever Next” where they zoomed off to the moon in a cardboard box rocket!

In the final week they have been thinking about reaching for the stars – learning about perseverance and practising to learn new things and achieve their ambitions. They have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about space and may well have been inspired to become astronauts of the future!
