The Blue Coat School, proud to sponsor the Bournville Book Festival 2017.

The Blue Coat School was delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s Bournville Children’s Book Festival. Over the course of two weekends we welcomed close to 1,000 visitors to meet with some of Bookfest’s top authors and illustrators.  Nick Cope entertained our younger audience with his interactive musical concert complete with Nick Cope spectacles!  Piers Torday chatted over brunch to recipients of a golden ticket competition and helped children to improve their story writing in an animal story workshop.

The following weekend an early heatwave added to the festival atmosphere.  The bbq was fired up and The Blue Coat School welcomed another music and story combination with the delightful ‘Bear and The Piano’ by David Litchfield.  Next it was Jonny Duddle’s turn to lead keen Harry Potter enthusiasts in an illustrating HP workshop. Later the one time pirate read and illustrated his award-winning children’s picture books ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and ‘The Pirate Cruncher’.  A swashbuckling time was had by all!

Headmaster, Noel Neeson comments, “Sarah Mullen and her team at the Busy Parents Network were a delight to work with.  They have really grown the Bookfest event over the last few years and as a school, we were naturally very keen to be a part of this exciting festival.  This video of the event really reflects a wonderful celebration of children’s love of stories.  Enjoy! ”
