U10A Rounders v Hallfield (H)
Monday 8 May
Blue Coat 22.5 – 12 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Skye Henshaw- strong batting and excellent bowling
A great start to the season and a strong win against our local rivals. The girls lost the toss and were put into bat; they rose to the task, hitting the ball into space and running hard between the posts to notch up a good score. Blue Coat then took to the field and were quick to the ball and made good decisions of where to throw, stopping the batter and restricting the score. Lily Falahee fielded extremely well, reacting to the ball early and closing down the space. Well in the lead, the girls lost concentration in the second inning, taking unnecessary risks.
A good start, but we most keep focus for the whole match!
Scorers: Sareena Sharma (3.5), Poppy Couzens (3), Skye Henshaw (3) Gracie Wynne (3)
U10B Rounders v Hallfield (H)
Monday 8 May
Blue Coat 20.5 – 13.5 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Anne-Laure Kavanagh
The match got off to a great start with Emma scoring one rounder on the first bowl of the game. This was followed with another rounder from Amulya from the second ball and Hallfield were knocked by our ability to hit the ball. We got into the swing of the match quickly and went into the half time ahead 11.5-9.5. In the second innings we fielded strongly and got several Hallfield players out at second post. Hallfield only went on to score 4 more rounders in total for the whole second innings and we looked sharp and focused, with players moving towards the ball to field. We scored another 6 full rounders with an exceptional smash from Melissa into the deep field. We played with real determination and Hallfield were knocked for 6 by our level of ability. An excellent start to the summer season.

Tuesday 9 May
St Monica’s 14 – 15.5 St Margaret’s
Most Valued Player: Karen Mao (St Monica’s) Ava Nicholas (St Margaret’s)
On a lovely sunny afternoon the teams were excited about their inter-House match. They played with real team spirit and we saw excellent rounders scored from Haneen, Kavya, Karen, Serena, Natasha, Lucy, Daisy, Ava and Mahshami. Amelie really improved her throws from backstop and some tremendous stops out in deep field from Gargi and Lily which prevented St Monica’s from scoring full rounders. The girls have progressed so much already it was a pleasure to see them in a wonderfully contested match.
