Year 2 enjoyed a fascinating day out at Weston Park in glorious sunshine on Wednesday.  They experienced for themselves the cramped, damp and smelly conditions of an Anderson shelter. The children made an imitation gas mask, learnt that babies, and even dogs, had masks and found out about how people lived during the Second World War. They discovered the burden of carrying their gas mask with them at all times, took cover during an air raid and learnt about the plight of the evacuees. This rich experience was enhanced by the Land Army girl recounting her personal story of life in Britain in the 1940’s.

The children were commended for their excellent manners and good behaviour by the staff at Weston Park.
