As temperatures soared to record heights at the Summer Fete, up in Sheffield, four Blue Coat girls were breaking records of their own in the water.

Maia Noonan, Skye Henshaw, Monique James-Thomas and Sofia Knight were the Gold Medal winners in the U11 Girls 4x25m Freestyle Relay at the finals of The English Schools Swimming Association Open Schools’ Championships.

The girls swam brilliantly against tough opposition and things were looking promising as they broke a new national record in the heats to become the fastest qualifiers. With steely determination they managed to go one stroke further and shave off a few more tenths of a second in the finals, setting a brand new national record of 57.18 seconds!

Congratulations girls and thank you for all your hard work and commitment to the team.

(Please refer to the Sports Reports for a full account of the thrilling finals, we came extremely close in the girls’ medley and the boys should also be proud of their achievements.)
