Kind-hearted Aashni in Year 1 has just celebrated her 6th birthday, but instead of receiving presents from her friends she chose to raise money for charity instead.

As a member of the Pre-Prep School Council last year, Aashni was heavily involved in raising money for the Birmingham Children’s Hosptial Charity through the Big Sleuth project. Inspired by the School’s successful fundraising activities including a sponsored bounce and cake sale, Aashni decided she wanted to continue to raise money herself this year.

And so, this September, instead of receiving presents from her friends, Aashni asked them to make a donation to her chosen charity. She raised an incredible £417. Proud parents Dr Shah and Dr Rathod-Shah said, “We are very proud of Aashni’s efforts and grateful to the School for teaching such good values.”

In a moment of serendipity the letter of appreciation Aashni received from the Charity included the story of 4-year-old Connie who is receiving treatment for Leukaemia at the hospital. It was the same little girl that Aashni’s Daddy had diagnosed with cancer just one year earlier when she had visited his GP practice, after a reaction to an insect bite.

Aashni’s generous gift will help to fund a brand new Children’s Cancer Centre at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and will benefit Connie and lots of other children just like her. Well done Aashni, we are really proud of you!
