19 excited BCS pupils set off for Twickenham early on Saturday morning to watch the first of the Autumn Internationals between England and Argentina. The group arrived at the stadium nice and early, which gave the children the opportunity to spend time looking around the England Rugby Shop – mini rugby balls were certainly the choice of the day! Miss Crews was particularly excited by the presence of a certain tall customer in the shop – England legend and 2003 Rugby World Cup winning captain, Martin Johnson CBE. Miss Patel and Mrs Barrowclift were both quick to join the subsequent photograph. The group then cheered the England players into the ground as the team bus drove towards the Rose and Poppy Gates. It was then brilliant watching the players go through their various routines prior to the game and the pre-match anthems certainly sent a tingle down one’s spine. The game was not a classic encounter, although it was very exciting in parts, with England winning 21-8. The boys very nearly managed to get the Mexican Wave going around the ground, but spectators in the West Stand really let them down!

A massive thank you to Mr Davies for all of his hard work organising this trip and to Miss Crews for her running of the trip on the day, in particular getting our 19 pupils safely back to the bus as 80,000 supporters processed out of the ground!
