Last week, all 513 Christmas shoe boxes from Blue Coat School were packed into the back of a van and sent to the Operation Christmas Child sorting warehouse. On Thursday morning a very excited team of chapel monitors clambered aboard a school minibus and headed off to the warehouse in Dudley. We were NOT disappointed. We had the warmest of welcomes from Janine Hall and her team of volunteers in a not so warm warehouse! Having watched the DVD of boxes arriving around the world, and some exciting stories from Janine about her trip to deliver boxes in Macedonia, we headed into the middle of the warehouse amid mountains of boxes. Supervised by a volunteer, we all had the opportunity to check a number of boxes and see for ourselves just how much work goes into preparing the boxes before they leave the UK. No one wanted to come back to school! It was a truly inspiring experience and we know that each box will be a real gift of love and joy for the children and families who receive them. Thank you Mr Newman for being our chauffeur, and thank you Blue Coat School for your wonderful collection of shoeboxes this year.
