On Wednesday 17th January all of Year 5 visited Singers Hill Synagogue in the centre of Birmingham.  They have been studying Judaism in their Religious Education lessons, and the trip would be the final part of this term’s work. 5B and 5S attended the first session, 5D and 5A the second.

Our guide, Geoff,  was excellent and gave a very informative talk as he showed the children around both the Main synagogue and the Children’s synagogue.  The children tried on prayer shawls, saw the beautiful Torah scrolls and admired the colourful stained glass windows.  Our patient guide answered the many questions the children had about Jewish customs and traditions.

It was a lovely finale to our topic and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the children.
