After our successes at the King Henry’s Invitational (West Midlands region) last term, we were invited along to the Bromsgrove Invitational (Midlands region) held at the new Worcester swimming pool. Joined by over 20 other schools, this was the first time Blue Coat had qualified for this prestigious event. At this gala, schools have to swim heats first, then the fastest 16 schools qualify either for the A and B final.

Taking a squad of 9 children, we had qualified for both the U11 Medley and Freestyle Relay in the boys and girls events. Our U11 Girls team consisting of Poppy, Maya, Skye, Storm and Neave swam outstandingly, dominating the race and winning both the Freestyle and Medley relays in excellent times. Our boys consisting of Alex B, Alex F, Kieran and Shayan also swam exceptionally, coming 2nd in both the Freestyle and Medley relays only on the touch both times…..if the pool had been a metre longer they would have won!

This year has been a phenomenal year of swimming at the school. The introduction of our morning and after school squads has had a huge impact on our swimmers. I must thank the parents for their continued support and praise the children for their dedication. We have the IAPS and ESSA qualifying gala’s coming up this month, towards which the children have worked extremely hard.
