On Tuesday 13 th March, Year 1 enjoyed a very Scottish day at school as part of their English focus on Katie Morag stories. They joined in three different activities to learn more about places, traditions and folklore of
Scotland, as well as trying some traditional shortbread and Irn Bru. They learnt about famous landmarks so they could write postcards from Scotland, skipped and twirled their way through Scottish dances and learnt about the stories surrounding the Loch Ness monster before drawing their own compositions. In the afternoon the children interviewed Mr Neeson, asking questions to satisfy their curiosity about what it is like to live North of the border. The children were disappointed that he didn’t wear his kilt, but he did promise that he would show the children a photo of him wearing one at his wedding. Watch this space! Year 1 participated in a Year group sing- song, led by Mrs Evans. My Bonnie lies over the Ocean resounded around All Saints House at the end of a very exhausting but pleasurable day. I don’t know about Bonnie, rather it was the Year 1 staff who
needed a well-earned lie down by the end of Tuesday!
