U9D Football Triangular v Winterfold/King’s Hawford (A)
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: BCS 1 – 2 King’s Hawford and BCS 0 – 2 Winterfold
Most Valued Player: Ali Ahmad
Report: The boys worked really hard in both games on what turned out to be a very warm afternoon at Winterfold. Henry de Bono showed some silky skills straight from kick off, bringing out a delicate backheel, and Oliver Tucker and Keerat Rai provided energy through the middle of the pitch in both games, feeding Saif Baber where possible. Ali Ahmad was always very composed in goal and made some great saves, while Archie Pemble, Rohan Sohal, Dexter Noble and Boyi Li all made some strong tackles in defence. A fun afternoon with a great bunch of lads.
Scorer: Oliver Tucker

U9C Football v Winterfold & King’s Hawford Triangular (A)
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: v King’s Hawford lost 0-1 v Winterfold lost 0-2
Most Valued Player: Ben Southall & Evan Tomlinson were relentless in their work ethic
Report: Perfect conditions for a superb fixture. The pitch played its part with a downhill advantage in both halves. We had some fantastic opportunities in front of goal, but just couldn’t get that elusive goal. Gabriel Bromfield was superb in goal with his shot stopping, and cleared the ball well into wide spaces. Winterfold were great hosts!

U11B Football v Eversfield (H)
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Result: Blue Coat 0 Eversfield 1
Most Valued Player: Ibrahim Mahmood was our engine in midfield, he worked so hard.
Report: Two very evenly poised sides this fixture, and Blue Coat were unlucky to finish a goal behind. The game was played without enough composure and control. First time passes missed, with a lot of turnover. However Blue Coat did produce countless opportunities in the Eversfield box. A better first touch, or improved decision making would have taken the game beyond Eversfield.

Despite a slow start trading goals with Eversfield the boys finally  found their rhythm midway through the first half. A combination of brave defending and clinical finishing on the counter attack proved a winning formula for Blue Coat.

U9A Football RGS Tournament
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Most Valued Player: Adam Bashir for his goal scoring exploits and Phillipos for his excellent goal keeping
Report: On Tuesday the U9A’s took part in the RGS The Grange Festival. It is a tournament that produces an excellent level of football and therefore to win it was a marvellous achievement. The boys started off with a game against RGS and came out comfortable 2-0 winners. In the next game the team strolled to a comprehensive 6-0 victory against Moor Park playing some excellent football. The next game against the Elms was a bit of a nail biter as fatigue started to show and the quality of the football dipped a bit. However, we managed to sneak a victory 1-0. The final group game was more of the same where the boys seemed to stop working off the ball and making space and it ended 0-0. The semi-final, although close in terms of score, was pretty one sided with Smallwood and Bashir making their presence felt up front. All that let us down was our shooting accuracy. Thankfully we managed to win 1-0 and save the team from the agony of penalties. The final saw a re-run of the group game vs RGS. It was a real seesaw match where RGS were on the front foot early and hit the post twice! Thankfully a swift break saw Bashir convert and then with time running out and the crowds rooting for RGS a moment of inspiration from Bashir put the game beyond doubt – he flicked it over the last defender and rifled it home. All of the players contributed enormously and I’d like to say we went home with the trophy…but they couldn’t find it so we await it in the post!

U11A ISFA Tournament Repton
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Result: Played 6 Won 2 Lost 3 Drew 1
Most Valued Player: Yuvraj Khanda for his excellent shot stopping
Report: The U11A team acquitted itself fantastically in the ISFA tournament. The team started with two fantastic wins against Eversfield and King’s Hawford. However as the heavy ground started to take its toll we found the Elms and RGS far to strong. A close draw against Wolverhampton was followed by a narrow loss to Nottingham High School. Draper was magnificent with his ‘never say die’ attitude, as was Kanda in goal. As a team, ultimately our fitness and lack of game sense were probably the two areas where we could improve the most. That said, a great effort from all involved – well done!

NETBALL

U11B Netball v EHS
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Result: BCS 7 – 3 EHS
Report: Having taken some inspiration from watching a clip of the England Netball side before travelling to EHS, the girls took to the court with real energy on Wednesday afternoon, and the first quarter was full of superb passing play. The movement off the ball was very strong and passes began to be timed to perfection. Willow and Gracie were electric once again in driving the side forward and Shalu was ‘on fire’ in the circle, scoring 5 goals from 5 attempts. Defensively, there was a really aggressive intent and although Amulya got called for ‘contact’ on occasion, she really set the tone for the rest of the girls. The game ended as a well deserved 7-3 victory.

U11C Netball v EHS
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Result: BCS 6 – 4 EHS
Report: The first quarter illustrated what a close encounter this was going to be, and the girls should be very proud of the commitment they showed throughout the game. Windy conditions made shooting very difficult but Melissa held her nerve and scored crucial goals for the side. Alayna and Pia were excellent in moving the ball from back to front at blistering speed, and this ensured easy access into the opponent’s circle. Once again, the whole side were a pleasure to take away, and the camaraderie between the girls was terrific.

U9B Netball v Hallfield
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: BCS 1 – 5 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Gloriosa
Report: Being our local derby the team started off really positively and Priyam and Jia were moving to get free in attack. We had several shots at goal but Ishani scored our only goal of the quarter. In the second quarter we had some great interceptions from Simran and Amrita and but we needed to move into space and pass the ball a lot quicker. Unfortunately, Hallfield went 1 goal ahead although we had most of the play. In the third quarter Hallfield scored 3 goals in quick succession but it was great to see that we just did not give up. In the final quarter we continued to move into space well and Freya and Gloriosa were linking well. We were moving the ball faster down the court but although we had shots we could not score. A great match with pupils trying new positions and the result not matching the team possession.
Scorer: Ishani

U11A Netball v EHS
Date: Wednesday 14th March
Result: BCS 13-1 EHS
Most Valued Player: Skye Henshaw
Report: A fantastic display of netball, the girls are holding space and making strong attacking runs into space. Tight defence gave EHS little opportunity to attack and Blue Coat were quick to pounce on any loose ball. Skye dominated the D, holding space and the girls utilised the pass over the top. A comfortable victory – well done girls!

U9A Netball v Hallfield
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: BCS 2-10 EHS
Most Valued Player: Sofia Philips
Report: A tough match against a strong Hallfield side. The girls are developing but need to remember to hold their space and use the full width of the court as at times we got very crowded. In the last quarter Blue Coat defended tighter, staying on our toes and shadowing the player to prevent the pass.

U10A Netball V Hallfield
Date: Tuesday 13th March
Result: BCS 5-5 Hallfield
Most Valued Player: Gracie Roberts
Report: A game of two halves! A very competitive and exciting game of netball. Blue Coat started slow and Hallfield were quick to capitalise and take the early lead. In the second half, the girls switched on, marked a lot tighter and the shots started to go in. In the final quarter it was all to play for with the scores tied, both teams worked the ball swiftly down the court and into the D and couldn’t be seperated – a draw was probably a fair result.

RUGBY

U8D Rugby v West House
Date: Thursday 15th March
Result: BCS 10 West House 6
Most Valued Player: Inigo Hodge & Kiran Bhatt were fine ball carriers
Report: A boggy pitch but fine weather gave the D team a chance to play a fun fixture. The pitch was nice and wide, allowing for lots of ball carrying and good support running. Leaders developed in our team, with Inigo Hodge, Kiran Bhatt and Aryan Sharma demonstrating those traits.
