On Tuesday the 20th March, the ensembles of Pre-Prep delighted their audience with a wonderful concert.  The children regularly perform individually in recitals, however Tuesday was an opportunity for us all to hear the result of the hard work which goes on in the ensemble groups.

The Year 2 recorder group opened the concert with a very polished performance, showing the hard work and progress they have made since the beginning of term.  A huge thank you goes to Miss Merrill for her hard work and dedication to the children.

The Suzuki groups performed next with real skill and maturity with pieces including the Twinkle Variations, and finishing off with ‘Cabbages!’  The children demonstrated their skills of listening to each other, watching and playing with technical accuracy.

‘Fiddlesticks,’ our Pre-Prep ensemble followed the Suzuki groups with instruments including cello, glockenspiels, violins and piano.  It was wonderful for the children in the audience to hear these instruments being played together with such skill and musical ability. I would like to thank Mrs Carey and Miss Eastwood for all of their hard work

Finally, the Year 2 children closed the concert with a truly uplifting rendition of the song, ‘Chocoholics.’ The children sang with wonderful enthusiasm and a definite love of all things chocolatey!

I was very proud of the children for playing and performing at such a high standard at a very young age.  The rest of the children in Pre-Prep were really inspired by the performances, as we all were.

Many thanks to Miss Merrill, Mrs Carey, Miss Eastwood and Miss Akehurst for all of their hard work for this concert and throughout the year.

Mrs Evans
