RUGBY
U8C Rugby v West House
Date: Thursday 15th March
Most Valued Player: Nathan Molsom for good support play and strong running with the ball.
Report: The C team played very well. They ran well with the ball seeking to go forward and showed good composure when tagged to find a team mate with a successful pass. In defence, the team showed good tagging skills and applied good pressure to force mistakes from the opposition.

U8A Rugby v West House
Date: Thursday 15th March
Most Valued Player: Theo Vieten-Kay
Report: The A team played a fantastic match against West House on Thursday. Both teams scored some fantastic tries in very boggy conditions. The West House side started well and scored a couple of early tries however some great interlinking and support got the scoreboard ticking. Both sides showed real potential with some of the offloads and there were some excellent evasion skills on display. One area as a team we can improve is to all press up together in defence and not allow the opposition to gain momentum.

FOOTBALL
U9A Football vs Solihull
Date: Tuesday 20th March
Result: Solihull 6 – 4 Blue Coat
Most Valued Player: Will Smallwood for his excellent work rate
Report: The A team tasted defeat for the first time this season against a slick Solihull side, in what was a fantastic game of football. Playing against the conditions in the first half, the team started slowly and only really started to perform with any urgency once 3-0 down. After this there were a number of golden opportunities squandered and we went in at half time 4-1 down. The second half was a humdinger, however we were never able to quite close the gap. At 5-4 Solihull scored a fantastic goal and the gap finished 6-4. In truth Solihull were slicker and their passing more incisive, and we weren’t able to use the elements as well as they did. The real lesson for our lads though is to not look for soft excuses, or try and blame the referee. Actually losing can be a real positive if we understand why we lost and what we need to do to get better. That said it has been a fantastic season and the boys are a joy to work with.

U11A Football v Chad Vale
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: Blue Coat 1 – 0 Chad Vale
Most Valued Player: Michael Draper for tirelessly competing in midfield whilst the defenders did well to keep the opposition at bay.
Report: The U11A team completed their soccer-playing career at Blue Coat with a narrow victory over Chad Vale. A close range finish late in the first half was sufficient to secure victory. Chad Vale played well and deserved to score but some resolute and fortuitous defending kept them at bay to ensure the victory.

U11B Football vs Chad Vale
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: Blue Coat 3 -2 Chad Vale
Most Valued Player: Jeevan Johal
Report: The U11B team had a fantastic match against Chad Vale Primary School. The game was end to end with both teams creating numerous chances and only because of the excellent defending and goalkeeping did the score remain as low as it was. The end of the game really summed up the whole game. With the score tied at 2-2, Chad Vale made a clean break. With Tomlinson standing between the attacker and the goal, he charged out like Peter Schmeichel and frightened the attacker into putting the ball wide. From the goal kick, Jeevan Johal played a beautiful ball up the left, this was crossed in by Anch Agrawal and after a fumble by the keeper slotted home by Mujtaba Mohiuddin – what a finish!

U9B Football v Solihull
Date: Wednesday 20th March
Result: Blue Coat 2 – 3 Solihull
Most Valued Player: John Meering was excellent in defence whilst Vinay Ratti and Lemuel Adjei showed plenty of energy and broke up the opposition play well.
Report: The U9B played superbly well and can feel hard done by to lose the game. Despite conceding 3 first half goals without reply, Blue Coat responded fantastically on each occasion and could easily have scored themselves but for some superb saves and last ditch defending from the Solihull team. The second half followed a similar pattern with Blue Coat continually pressing and creating chances. The team managed to get two goals back but failed to find the equalizer they deserved.
Scorer: Ben Carberry (1) Raihan Ahmad (1)

Intra School Match ‘Aston Villa v Birmingham City’
Date: Tuesday 20th March
Result: Aston Villa 1 – Birmingham City 0
Most Valued Player: Ben Southall (Birmingham City) and Ali Ahmad (Aston Villa)
Report: As the final U9D fixture of the season was unfortunately cancelled, the same group of boys split into two very evenly matched teams on Tuesday afternoon and those watching enjoyed a thoroughly competitive game. Tackles were flying in hard, reminiscent of real Second City derbies at Villa Park or St Andrews and the boys meant business. Aston Villa took the lead midway through the second half, and despite the best efforts of Ben Southall and his team, the Blues couldn’t hit the back of the net to secure a draw.

U10 Football RGS the Grange Tournament
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: Runners up in the final!
Report: In the groups stages, we had a fine 3-0 win v Warwick, with Adam Bashir coming on at half time and executing two fine shots across goal and Luke Dolan wrapping up the win near the full time whistle. V King’s Hawford they were a strong side, losing 1-0 but having lots of possession. We kept on finding the same player who dominated the game for them. V Moor Park we couldn’t find a goal, sacrificing a defender for the final few minutes it ended 0-0. But that was enough to get us to the semi final. V RGS the Grange it was deadlock. We couldn’t convert golden chances in the box, even through extra time it was 0-0. Onto penalties, where 3 players stepped up, and it went to the sudden death 4th penalty. Adam Bashir converting to get us into the final v King’s Hawford who beat us in the group stage. A really unlucky handball inside the box gave King’s Hawford a penalty which they converted. We battled on, but couldn’t find an equaliser and lost 1-0. Proud runners up, a top day with this team who have been so affected by the weather this season.
Scorer: Adam Bashir (2), Luke Dolan

Most Valued Player: Emma, Poppy, Anne-Laure, Neave, Sereena, Prisyn,Isabelle and Teresa. Whole team effort!
Report: With a point to prove to the other Prep Schools within the West Midlands our girls set off with real intent. We had 5 matches of 6 minutes each way to play in a round robin and the winners taking home the medals. Throughout the tournament the team played with real style and made playing netball look easy. The training and hard work that all of the team put in throughout each match was amazing and a real pleasure to watch. The girls put in a real team effort and I am really proud of their unbeaten season. All of the respective teachers from the other schools complimented how the girls played and carried themselves throughout the tournament and one teacher said our girls, if older, would easily make County Netball Teams.

U9A Netball v Winterfold
Date: Tuesday 20th March
Result: BCS 4-6 Winterfold
Most Valued Player: Sophia Philips
Report: The girls have made huge improvements over the course of the year and this was demonstrated in the second and third quarter. Swift passing and well timed movement into space helped work the ball down the court. The girls are starting to hold their space and sprint in front to receive the ball. Shooting accuracy was the difference between the 2 teams but a very exciting match, well done girls.

U9B Netball v Winterfold
Date: Tuesday 20th March
Result: BCS 3 – 5 Winterfold
Most Valued Player: Tabitha
Report: We started off really well with our first goal being scored by Ishani with a great pass from Gloriosa. We marked consistently well throughout the match and Amrita,Simran and Jia in particular did exceedingly well to keep intercepting the ball. Our passing down the court has improved massively and Anjali and Freya were working really hard to get free with Tabitha providing an option within the D and gaining 2 goals. Overall, we did really well with our marking and getting free but still not to work on our footwork for the future.

Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: BCS C 6-5 Winterfold B
Report: A very close, competitive and exciting match. The girls moved the ball swiftly up the court and into the D but at time their footwork let them down. Accurate shooting my Mellissa helped us to take the lead and our defence stuck tight to secure the win,

U11 Netball v Winterfold
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: Winterfold 7 – BCS 0
Most Valued Player: Deyuan Chen
Report: A difficult game given the cold and the wind but the girls did not give up, with numerous unsuccessful attempts at a goal. The ball was well played up and down the court game but unfortunately the result did not reflect the effort the girls put in.

U11D Netball v Winterfold U10A
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: BCS 1 – 6 Winterfold
Most Valued Player: Janani Anand
Report: The girls were far too gentle in the first quarter of the game and allowed the opposition to play some free flowing netball. From then on, the girls became more aggressive in defence and made it really tough for Winterfold. We got our hands on the ball much more in the second and third quarter, but dropped the ball at crucial stages so the girls couldn’t capitalise on their improved possession. A really tough game to end the season, but all of the girls must be commended for the way they played.

U11B Netball v Winterfold
Date: Wednesday 21st March
Result: BCS B 2-13 Winterfold A
Most Valued Player: Willow McKenzie
Report: The girls battled hard against a very strong Winterfold A team. Blue coats defence worked tirelessly to keep the ball out of the D but Winterfold’s movement and passing was too sharp and they soon took the lead. In attack Blue Coat struggled to work the ball down the court and into the D however kept fighting until the final whistle, never giving up and always fighting for the ball .
