On Thursday 21st June Years 1 to 6 were treated to a French play; “Le Château”, by Onatti Productions. Pre-Prep were delighted to be included and it was an absolute treat for them all. The actors acted out what might have happened when King Henry VIII was searching Europe for his fourth wife. At the beginning of the play the scene was set; the year is 1540 and a young English knight has been sent to France by King Henry VIII. He must find a suitable lady for the King to marry, paint her portrait and return to England. The problem is he doesn’t speak much French and there are some communication problems along the way! At times there was an element of pantomime but this allowed the audience to follow the action closely and enjoy the humour. It was a hilarious production which used simplified French, recognisable vocabulary, and plenty of gestures to allow the children to understand what was happening.
