In English, we have been studying a fascinating book called The Flower, by an Australian author John Light. Simultaneously, in Science, Year 2 have been learning about electricity; so the children created their own working electrical circuits, with a switch.  Meanwhile, in Creative Arts the children designed and made their own diorama for Brigg: the main character in The Flower. We then created a cityscape, with blocks of apartments. As a result, the children enjoyed drama lessons and writing in role as Brigg with some impressive diary entries. This cross-curricular approach has allowed the children to fully immerse themselves within a brilliant text. This truly is the power of reading!
