U11 Cross Country Meet at Abberley Hall

Date: Thursday 11th October

Result: Boys – 2nd place overall. 1st Place William Smallwood. Girls Overall winners. 1st place Bea Neeson, 2nd place Phoebe Jones.

This was our first outing to Abberley Hall Cross Country. We work hard on Tuesday mornings before school and that seems to have paid off stupendously. The start of a cross country race is always frantic, with over 120 runners in the U11 category trying to get to that first corner. Oliver Smith set the pace for the race but then came a tough uphill to the clock tower. The stunning 2km course had its hills but ‘what goes up must come down’ and this is where William Smallwood took charge and never looked back. A stunning race from Will!

Equally as fantastic were the efforts from the girls. Bea Neeson led from the first hill through to the finish. She was closely followed by Phoebe Jones all the way and the two girls finished within metres of each other to take 1st & 2nd place. Indira Singh did the Year 5s proud finishing 12th overall. That meant the girls were comfortable overall winners and the boys narrowly missed out on the shield by only three points. It was a very proud day for Blue Coat Sport and just shows you what you can achieve with hard work and determination!

Overall results: Girls – Bea Neeson (1) Phoebe Jones (2) Indira Singh (12) Storm Henshaw (17) Maya Hart (38) Lauren Claridge (39) Boys – William Smallwood (1) Oliver Smith (11) Oliver Almond (19) William Brett (21) Freddy Trevis (24) Michael Ogunlola (53)
