34 pupils made their way to Monmouth last Saturday to take part in the UK Choir Festival. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to work with some of the best choir trainers and leaders in the country. We were not disappointed. The children received a warm welcome from Russell Scott, the event organiser, and along with 400 other singers the BCS Choir enjoyed workshops on ensemble singing, singing songs from the great musicals (it was Les Mis – Mr Newman’s favourite!), Gospel singing styles (my favourite), and how we communicate emotion when we sing.

Just as we were about to leave, the children were asked to sing to the audience! It was a little nerve-wracking to say the least, so we sang a few choruses of one of our favourite hymns ‘Halle, Halle, Halle’.

Some quotes from the children “ It was the best day ever!”, “ I really enjoyed singing the songs with the adults; it was an amazing sound!”, “I learnt such a lot from the workshop leaders, they made us feel really special”.

We are looking forward to 2019 already!
