Harvest began with our Transition children who wowed us with their Harvest songs. Chaplain told the story of the 10 lepers. She reminded us of the importance of saying ‘thank you’ for all the good things we have and for all the people who love and care for us. Well done Transition!

The Buttons children gathered around a Harvest rainbow to sing songs and to find out what was in Chaplain’s Harvest sack! We managed to match the colour of the fruit and vegetable to the colours of the rainbow. In the sack was a packed lunch of 5 loaves and 2 fish. We all munched the bread as Chaplain told the story of how the little boy shared with Jesus his packed lunch. Jesus did a miracle and it fed 5000 people.

Pre-Prep filled Chapel with exciting songs – thank you Mrs Evans for all your hard work in preparing such beautiful singing and beautifully presented Year 2 Harvest dramas. We discovered that the magic letters of H-A-R-V-E-S-T can change themselves to spell ‘S-H-A-R-E’ and ‘H-E-A-R-T’. Chaplain reminded us that Harvest is all about sunshine and showers – God sends the sun to warm the seed and the showers to grow a bumper harvest. She also reminded us that God wants to grow a harvest in our hearts. Many thanks to the two brave parents who wore shower caps covered in shaving foam and experienced a popcorn shower! Thank you Pre-Prep for all the food you donated for the Oldbury Food Bank and the shoeboxes too. These gifts will be gratefully received.

Many parents, grandparents, family and friends squeezed into Chapel to enjoy some very lively Harvest Celebrations this week. We welcomed Mrs Hartwell, one of our Buttons teachers, who shared, most movingly, of how she had received a shoebox in Jamaica when she was 8 years old. There were many tearful eyes. Thank you to all those who have filled shoeboxes. Chaplain will count them over half term and let you all know how many we have.

Thank you to Mr Nicklin and Chapel choir, Mrs Happ and Senior Choir and Year 4 Choir and Mr Hogg (organ) for all their hard work in preparing a feast of Harvest music for the children to sing. We enjoyed the Year 5 and 6 Drama group’s entertaining and thoughtful presentation of Jesus’ story, the ‘Parable of the Great Banquet’…a special thank you to Mrs LG for providing a unique ring tone! A special thank you to Mrs Drake for joining the Year 4 choir in the singing of her song ‘Creator God’ and for her talk reminding us of God’s invitation to be part of his kingdom. She cautioned us not to be too busy or too distracted but to take time to remember God’s invitation to us.

What an amazing harvest. Thank you everyone!
