Thank you to the BCS Chapel Choir who entertained the staff, patients and visitors to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday morning. Sporting festive headgear, they sang Christmas songs and carols beautifully and showed great musicianship, bringing smiles to the faces of the many visitors that morning.

BCS are also extremely proud of Amar in Year 6 who has gained a place in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Children’s Chorus. He successfully auditioned recently and is very excited to join the choir.

Many congratulations also go to Anya in Year 4 who has gained a place in the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain for 2019. Congratulations, Anya! Anya started singing lessons in September 2017 when she started at Blue Coat, and previously sang with her church choir. Anya loves everything about singing – performing, singing with friends and composing her own songs. To join the National Children’s Choir, Anya had to go through an audition process which involved singing one song from memory, some aural tests including musical memory tests, singing chords and some sight singing. Being a part of the choir will give Anya the opportunity to enhance her choral singing experience. She will attend two residential week-long courses next year during the Easter and Summer holidays, both of which will end with a concert performance. There will also be several other performance opportunities throughout the year.  Anya is really looking forward to the residential courses and to making new friends, all with a similar love of singing!

Don’t forget to share your musical successes with us!
