On Wednesday morning, the whole of Prep gathered in the School Hall for the ‘Michaelmas Term Awards Assembly’ which was a celebration of everything that takes place in our busy school.  Mrs Bennett, our Director of Sport, gave a fantastic overview of our successes on the sports field, which was rounded off with a fun photo montage. The background music of ‘Come Alive’ from The Greatest Showman certainly got the children very excited indeed.

Mrs Simmons spoke of a brilliant new initiative for the Lent Term and introduced the school to the new ‘Science Ambassadors.’  Mr Nicklin took to the stage next, between his very busy rehearsal schedule, presenting children with their ABRSM Music Certificates. He also took great pleasure in awarding the Year 6 pupils in Chapel Choir with their Music Colours. Mrs Palmeri emphasised how well the children were balancing their academic work with their numerous other commitments, and the number of Merit Certificates achieved thus far certainly suggested this.  Many children have also received a Deputy Head Award for excellent work this term, and 3 children have had work submitted to the Academic Book of Excellence.

The final presentations were for the new House Leaders, and our House Heads were very proud, not only of the Year 6 children who are taking on these roles, but also those who did such a great job in the Michaelmas Term.

Our Head Boy and Head Girl ended the assembly with the following message – ‘We just wanted to say Happy Christmas to all of the staff who make it all happen for us at The Blue Coat School. We also want to say thank you, not only to those who teach and care for us every day inside or outside of the classroom, but those who lead us, feed us, look after the fabric of our school, and those who ensure that the school continues to run each and every day.’
