There was no sign of any Blue Coat children this Thursday but we were joined by Alice in Wonderland, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, Mary Poppins, and Stick Man as children and staff alike celebrated World Book Day. Favourite stories were shared, bookmarks were made and a character hunt was undertaken as the children participated enthusiastically in a variety of fun activities linked to their favourite books. The day was a great success! Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make it such an enjoyable day.
The Year 2 children had a very exciting time when they visited Year 3 to join in with World Book Day activities. They spent time reading their favourite books to each other, designing a new book jacket for their favourite book and sharing the funniest parts of the story with the rest of the class. They really enjoyed their trip up to them Prep School; a big thank you to Year 3 for hosting them.
Once again The Blue Coat School surpassed my expectations on Thursday with the array of book character costumes. Children and staff alike were unrecognisable; we certainly all enjoyed talking about our fictional book character. May I take this opportunity to thank all you lovely busy parents, who supported your children to dress up. World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it is a celebration of reading! Your children were given the opportunity to share their books in class; characters introduced themselves to another character and they recommended their favourite book. As always, the £1 book token will have made its way home this week, which can be redeemed against any book purchase in many bookstores.
