On Tuesday 3MH enjoyed an exciting visit to the Barber Institute. During a tour of the gallery we looked at paintings and learned about ‘the Renaissance Elbow’, a pose that meant power and strength in 15thC art. We also did some role play as well as discovering that Lady Barber founded the institute. We had fun acting out the story of the artist Derain’s toothache and the portrait he painted of his friend as a result. We produced some creative prints based on expressions and portraits in a workshop. Finally we all had our photograph taken doing the Renaissance Elbow on the steps outside.
