Pupils are always asked to think of their audience when completing creative writing tasks, which is usually their English teacher at school; when an opportunity presents itself for the audience to be the award-winning author of children’s mystery books, Robin Stevens, it is something not to be missed! The Blue Coat School Prep children all set to writing their short narrative, to get involved with the GLARE story writing competition, which had to introduce at least one female villain. This was launched in conjunction with Bournville Bookfest earlier in the year, where the University of Birmingham got involved to run writing workshops at the finale weekend, here at BCS. The participation of all the Prep pupils impressed me and it fills me immense pride to announce that we have two winners from BCS. Isabella is the winner of the 6-8yrs category with her narrative: ‘The Devil’s Daughter‘ and Harry is the winner of the 9-12yrs category with his narrative: ‘The Exam‘. May I take this opportunity to congratulate all the Prep pupils for engaging in the process. Both Isabella and Harry did remarkably well; I hope that you will join me in congratulating them on their success. What an amazing way to celebrate writing!
