The Year 5 Maths Challenge took place last Wednesday. A fantastic competition where we battled for the Borcherd’s Shield against a number of other local Independent Schools. It was a mentally, but also a physically challenging competition as pupils relayed against each other to earn points for their team. As numbers were being totted-up, the schools were then treated to a lesson delivered by a member of the KES mathematics department. In the afternoon, before awards were finally given, the pupils were wowed by a most exhilarating talk and demonstration by the wonderful author of the Murderous Maths series, Kjartan Poskitt.
The day ended superbly as Blue Coat walked away with some wonderful Marvellous Maths treats and more importantly, the Borcherd’s Shield for first place in the competition.
