U10A Girls’ Hockey v King’s St Alban’s (H)

Score: 3-1

Player of the Match: Imogen Brinkman

Fantastic afternoon to continue the U10As fine start to the season. Playing with top structure and a “two to the ball” focus, we created lot of opportunities. A highlight being a superb tackle by Lara Wilcox, who passed into midfield with Lucie Evans driving into the D and Zuva M-Redmond completing a superb goal.

U10B Girls’ Hockey v King’s St Alban’s (H)

Score: 5-1

Player of the Match: Khadija Kamran

In very hot conditions, the BCS side were held 1-1 by the opposition at the end of the first half. The pitch looked congested and there was little link up play. BCS tried to stretch the game a little more in the second half with the use of a high forward in Emily S. Khadija, Siyena and Aleyah worked hard to pick up the ball in midfield and distribute to the frontline. This proved successful with a flurry of second half goals.

U10A Girls’ Hockey v King’s Hawford (H)

Score: 7-0

Zuva (4), Poppy (1), Clare (1), Lucie (1)

Player of the Match: Zuva M-R

The girls got off to a great start, and Zuva scored within the first few minutes with a super through ball from Lucie. The girls took advantage of the early ball and worked hard to ensure they had two to the ball. The girls used space well and as clearly had trust between one another to know when the pass was on. Karman had a fantastic game in goal and was quick to clear and balls that came near her. The girls were winning 5-0 at half time. Kings Hawford had an excellent second half and the girls did well to dig in deep and keep them from scoring. Keeping their shape and looking up before the pass will help the girls keep possession when moving the ball out from the back. There is some very promising play for so early in the season- keep up the hard work girls!

U11A Rugby v Eversfield School (A)

Score: 40-0

Player of the Match: Filippos Psychogios

A marked improvement by the U11A team with some high quality tries being scored through good support play and slick handling. The most pleasing aspect though was we were much more effective at the breakdown and realigned faster giving the 1st and 2nd receiver more time on the ball. The moment of the match for me was a beautiful support line by Filippos followed by a one handed off load to Richard to race over from 30 yards. There will be tougher challenges but this was a good performance.

U11A Girls’ Hockey v Hallfield School (A)

Score: 2-2

Scorer: Jessie (2)

Player of the Match: S. Philips

We started off with real attacking venom as Jessie had scored our 2 goals within the first 5 minutes. Unfortunately during a tackle Sofia took a hit to her ankle and the girl’s had to think quickly to reposition. With Hallfield pushing through our middle as huge gaps were left in midfield they managed to score 2 goals. This was a match which showed we had good attacking play with 6 shots on target however, basic mistakes were made which we need to learn from and show what we can do next week.

U11B Girls’ Hockey v Hallfield School (A)

Score: 3-0

Scorer: Delina Elias (3)

A great start for the U11B team, taking the lead within the first few minutes of the game. High energy from our girls playing in mid field, dominating the ball in our attacking end, time and time again. Our defence didn’t have much action in the first half however, were well disciplined and they kept their position in case there was a quick turn over. In the second half, Hallfield made a few changes and gave BCS a more challenging game however, we were able to still fight for the ball and convert one more goal finishing the game 3-0 to BCS. The girls played well but we need to develop our ability to pass to our players with some power.
