This week, following a presentation in the School Hall, parents worked alongside their children in the Transition classrooms. After half term the children in Transition will be learning letter sounds and taking home their first reading book…the reading journey begins! At The Blue Coat School we want our pupils to read for pleasure and to develop a lifelong love of reading. Thank you to all parents who support our vision.
‘The Power of Reading’ parent workshop was hugely well attended Tuesday morning. Our Y3 parents were invited into school to be introduced to the Reciprocal Reading strategies used at BCS; the parents had an opportunity to make use of those strategies instantly after the presentation, when they joined their child in the classroom. It is always lovely to see so many engaged children reading with adults and working through the dialogue based reading that we encourage. After all, reading for pleasure is an entitlement for every child. For any parents who missed the presentation or those who would like a reminder, the presentation is now available on the Parent Portal.
