U10A Girls’ Hockey v Hallfield School (A)

BCS 12 – Hallfield 0

Hard to pick out one player for this as it really was such a top all round team performance

It was a fresh afternoon on Hallfield’s newly laid Astro Turf and goals came a plenty from the outset. Our ball pace has increased from defence in Alexandra Souter and Imogen Brinkman, allowing the likes of Zuva M-Redmond and Claire Happ to receive high up the pitch and in goal scoring positions. Zuva really impressed with first touch towards goal and a powerful, accurate ball strike. Lucie Evans cleaned up lots of ball in central midfield and was very composed to find space forward. Progression is clear from this group, let’s hope for more performances like this!

U10C Girls’ Hockey v Solihull School (H)

BCS 2 v 0 Solihull

Scorers: Siyena (1), Kenza (1)

Player of the Match: Siyena B

Unfortunately, there was a severe delay to start these matches as Solihull were delayed this meant our match time was significantly shorter. This didn’t seem to put off the team as they started very confidently with Kenza and Siyena scoring our goals. All the girls worked incredibly hard and managed to keep a clean sheet in cold conditions.

U10D Girls’ Hockey v Solihull School (H)

BCS 3 v 0 Solihull

Scorer(s): Imogen M (3)

Player of the Match: Imogen M

This team only played for 10 minutes due to the delay but it didn’t stop them dominating from the off with Imogen scoring a hatrick. Some determined running by Polly and Marissa kept the pressure on Solihull and the team did well and kept the ball moving forwards towards the opposition goal. Hopefully next week they will get a longer run out.

U8 Girls’ Hockey Festival at RGS The Grange (A)

Player of the Match: Arial Ratti & Anna Newman

A fantastic afternoon of hockey at RGS. It was the year 3 girls first competitive hockey fixture, 11 schools took part and 19 teams. Our girls definitely had the competitive instinct, eager to win the ball and go for goal. As the games progressed we got better at holding our diamond formation and at times passed the ball beautifully to each other. Blue tam played 10 games, won 8, drew 1 lost 1. Yellow team won all 7 matches. An excellent start, I think the girls really enjoyed it.

U9A Girls’ Hockey Festival at Winterfold House School (H)

Festival BCS 2 v 0 Winterfold, BCS 3 v 0 RGS Springfield, BCS 2 v 0 King St Albans, BCS 2 v 0 Wolverhampton Grammar

Player of the Match: Team Award

After a slight delay to play we started strong against Winterfold with all of the girls looking eager to play. We dominated the first match and continued in the same fashion throughout the festival. Our attacking play is fast and schools were not as prepared as we were to keep the ball moving as a team. The whole team is growing in stature and skills and they are getting results from a desire to play and learn. I can’t congratulate them enough on how they are playing at the moment and the respect and discipline they are showing me regarding positional play. I cannot thank the girls enough as I watch and see what they are learning then being played out on the pitch.

U9A Rugby v Solihull School (H)

BCS 25 – 15 Solihull

Player of the Match: Robert Miller

We are back to the cold and muddy conditions however this didn’t change the focus of the U9A’s today against Solihull. A physical game and defiantly our toughest one yet. Solihull ran aggressively with the ball and scored a few tries as BCS didn’t close down any runners and struggled to complete their tackles. A quick refocus, and BCS became the stronger team. Excellent running with the ball from Vivek Ratti who was also able to pass before the tackle which effectively spread our attack quickly. Great support running from James Longworth, Arjun Gill and Wilfred Crow-Marcetic kept the attack moving forwards. BCS matched Solihull’s physicality through team work. Tackling in numbers with Robert Miller being everywhere on the pitch ready to drive any ball carrier off the pitch.

U9D Rugby v Solihull School (H)

BCS 20 – 10 Solihull

Player of the Match: Rishul Marrie

A great result against a strong Solihull side. BCS were organised, powerful and disciplined across all aspects of the game. Superb support play from Keerat Rai, Gabriel Bromfield and Rohil Awasthi meant the ball was recycled quickly keeping Solihull under constant pressure. A brightly coloured Rohan Sohal was a constant support to any ball carrier. BCS showed a good understanding of the game in the ruck and scrum leading to Solihull giving away penalties which we capitalised on with dominant running from Rishul Marrie. Well done to Henry De Bono who was “Mr Utility player” bouncing from pitch to pitch, playing for any BCS team that would let him! A great attitude from every player on the pitch despite the freezing conditions!

U11A Girls’ Hockey v Eversfield School (H)

BCS 6 -2 Eversfield

Scorer(s): Gloriosa (2) Sofia (3) Indira (1)

Player of the Match: Indira Singh

A cold but bright afternoon for the U11A Hockey fixture v Eversfield. The girls had a flying start, dominating the play in their attacking end for the majority of the first half. The girls demonstrated some real progress particularly with their decision making skills. They really showed their understanding of when to carry the ball and when to look up and pass. Likewise it’s fantastic to see the girl’s movement off the ball really improving, there was lots of good passages of play moving the ball from the defence into our attack, which gave us a number of opportunities to score. The girls scored 4 goals in the first half, showing perseverance through some tough defence. Eversfield tried to fight back scoring two goals in the first half too, finishing the first half 4-2. In the second half Eversfield made a few changes and it was more of a challenge for BCS girls to score. Blue Coat defence were relentless and didn’t allow Eversfield to push through. Blue Coat girls managed to score two more lovely goals, scored by Sofia Richards. A great team effort girls, keep it up for next week. Final score 6-2.

U11B Girls’ Hockey v Eversfield School (H)

BCS 1- 0 Eversfield

Scorer(s): Eva (1)

Player of the Match: Eva Seymour

A very competitive game of Hockey with a lot of the play going end to end for most of the match. At first all the play was going down the middle channel, there wasn’t a lot of space, resulting in the ball contacting both teams’ feet. However, with some direction the girls quickly spread out and looked to play the ball wide. At half time we talked about keeping our shape and for the right and left mid to help Hollie in the shooting D, to create more opportunities to score. Credit when credit is due, the girls did just that, they worked their socks off and showed real determination and desire to win. Eva Seymour scoring the winning goal although, it definitely was a team effort. A super result for the girls and well fought till the end. Final score was 1-0.

U11B Rugby v Solihull School (A)

Solihull 30 Blue Coat 10

Player of the Match: Ben Southall was fearless in the tackle

Late start for the boys, but it was worth it as all games were incredibly competitive. In the first half, three runaway tries from one player at Solihull unfortunately left a mountain to climb for Blue Coat. We had the lion share of ball, but just couldn’t break a line of defence to open up play. Simeon Hughes and Bertie Chandler have stepped up their games and deserve a spot in the B team with powerful running and solid tackling. In the second half, Solihull continued a good defensive line and had a couple bigger boys, who ran through our defence.
