Doubtless all of our pupils, and a number of our more intrepid, young-at-heart parents, will be dreaming of a white Christmas. Now that the election is over – and Brexit is soon to be completed (?) we can turn our attention to even more weighty matters.
I refer to global warming, a topic which has risen to the top of the political agenda and which is in sharp focus due to extraordinary events in south east Australia. As we brave the cold and a few drops of rain, perhaps we should spare a thought for residents of the Sydney area. As we open our presents, they could easily be gasping for air and fearing for their very existence. We have to count our blessings – and make the most of our opportunities. And we do.
After the excitement of the Christmas Fayre last Saturday when The Friends excelled themselves again, we moved into the final week of term with a hop, skip and a jump! As Christmas well and truly arrived at BCS, Monday saw the Lower School Advent Service. This was a beautiful occasion, well led by Year 3 and ably supported by Year 4. The Pre-Prep was as always a beautiful affair with children singing and acting their little hearts out. They were a credit to themselves in both events.
We enjoyed an entertaining, fun-packed evening of music at the Christmas concert on Tuesday evening, when staff, parents and children joined forces to create a magical Christmas feeling. The musicianship was out of this world, and this underlined the abundance of talent in this department.
On Thursday evening, the Senior School Advent Service was sublime. Spellbinding, neck-tingling, high octane performances, coupled by the beautiful singing of the Senior Choir and Chapel Choir: all this will live long in the memory.
As we reach the end of an extremely positive term here at BCS, you are welcome to look back on all the events in our termly Out of the Blue Magazine. You can find this here and hard copies will be sent home with the children in January. I would especially like to thank all the staff involved over the last two weeks of term. You all went above and beyond. To all the staff at BCS whether that be teaching, administrative role or estates, I would like to formally thank you all for keeping our light burning bright. As I always say, individually strong, unbreakable as one!
To all the children and parents, thank you for the lovely thoughtful gifts and cards. Jules and I feel very humbled. Now have a good rest and a wonderful break with your family. You all very much deserve it!
