Saturday 14 December: Wasps v Edinburgh European Rugby and Coach Class day.

35 pupils attend a superb day with the premier league rugby union side Wasps. In the morning they were split into two groups for an hours training session with the Wasp academy coaches. To add to the experience, they were all given a Wasps T-shirt and two current 1st team players attended, joined in and were open to the boy’s questions. This was hosted at Old Leamingtonians, where the boys had a quick lunch and drove to the Ricoh Arena.

Here they were split into a team of mascots and flag bearers. The mascots got to stand in the tunnel with the team, as they ran out hand in hand. Prior to this another player in James Gaskell came to say hi, the boy’s quizzed him about food, boots and his favourite car! The flag bearers stayed on the pitch and created a guard of honour as they players ran out. All pupils kept their flags, and were seated ready for the action. Unfortunately it wasn’t the most enthralling game, with Wasps narrowly losing 9-6 to a later penalty. However the boys got to view the store in the stadium and we were back to school for 6:30pm.

Thanks to the staff who attended, it created a wonderful atmosphere to finish off a busy term.
