My name is Heidi Stacey and I am delighted to have started work as the new Librarian at BCS this week.  What a warm welcome from staff and pupils!

Prior to coming here I have enjoyed a career in education and libraries.  Most recently I was at the University of Birmingham School where I worked since it opened to create a thriving and exciting library.  Highlights included the annual Harry Potter Book Night which I look forward to establishing as a regular event here. Before that I worked as a strategic city-wide children’s librarian for Birmingham public libraries based in Central Library and later The Library of Birmingham.  I began my career as a primary school teacher so being here is a lovely way to combine these strands of my working life.

My plans for BCS libraries begin with sorting out the book stock to make reading and accessing beautiful and up-to-date books easier for everyone.  Once this is done I will circulate details of how pupils and parents can interact with the library online via our management system The Reading Cloud so look out for that soon.

I have already met many wonderfully keen readers and I look forward to implementing lots of fun ideas to get pupils even more involved with books and reading.  Watch this space!
