U10A, B Football v Warwick Junior School (A)
BCS 0 – 3 Warwick BCS
Player of the Match: Sebastian Stendall
Whilst the U10As lost this match it was actually much closer than the scoreline suggested with the main reason for the 3-0 scoreline being the quality of the Warwick goalkeeper who had an excellent game. BCS played some excellent football moving the ball well from defence until the final third of the pitch only to be thwarted by a Schmeichel like performance in the Warwick goal. Seb Stendall displayed all of the characteristics that we like BCS pupils to, he was tenacious, and worked incredibly hard for the team, he passed the ball well and was the heartbeat of the side. As a side though to improve we need to be more composed in front of goal and kick the ball harder!

BCS 5-1 Warwick
Player of the Match: Oliver Smoldon
The U10B team played fantastically scoring some great goals earning a fine victory. After a fantastic finish by Ateeb, the show was stolen by Oliver Smolden who completed an excellent hat-trick. Sam Hodges also made some fine saves in goal to cap a great team performance.

U10C Football v Warwick Junior School (A)
BCS 1 – 2 Warwick
Noah Jones
Player of the Match: George Qin
A tight match, played on a super outfield of the 1st XI cricket field at Warwick, The boys took a while to grow into the game, conceding early, but I think we have found a superb C team goalkeeper in Aidan Verma. Electric off his line and saved some good 1v1s. George Qin was the workhorse in midfield, dribbling with confidence over the halfway line. The whole team just need some power and conviction in their passing to be able to get the ball moving. Fun start to the football term.

U10D Football v Warwick Junior School (A)
BCS 1 – 5 Warwick
Kiran Bhatt
Player of the Match: Josh Wood
Despite the score line, this was a closely fought match especially in the midfield. After losing our midfield general of Noah Jones early on we were blessed with the energy and tenacity of Josh Wood. The U10D’s kept their formation well, at times too well, rigidly sticking to their allocation position rather than responding to where the ball was. Inigo Hodge, Toby Mantle and Kiran Bhatt maintained their energy levels throughout the game provided support in offence as well as defence. A special mention to Josh Wood who showed the ability to pass, dribble, tackle and shot with effect, a solid performance all round. The boys showed their resilience, not giving up and playing right up to the last seconds, where they finally got their much deserved goal. Plenty of learning occurred, plenty to focus on.

U8 & U9 School Games Gymnastics: Sports Hall
On Monday, several gymnasts from Year 3 and 4 took part in the preliminary round for the Under 9 School Games Gymnastics Competition. We entered two teams of mixed boys and girls to compete against two other local schools to win a place in the Final.
Gymnasts, selected from our Positive PE extra-curricular program, had to individually showcase a set floor routine and vault. The scores from each individual were then added for team results. With little time to prepare for this competition, each gymnast did incredibly well to perform the required skills with precision and control.
At the end of the competition, we learnt that one of our teams had gained second place, meaning we had just missed out on a going to the Finals. It was the first time that most of these children had performed in a gymnastics competition and so they should be very proud of their achievements. A special mention goes to Leon in Year 3 who was awarded with the ‘Self-Belief Badge’ for his amazing confidence and attitude throughout the competition.

U9B Football v Warwick Junior School (H)
BCS 3 -3 Warwick
Player of the Match: Harry Stockton
The old fashioned game of two halves! Losing 3-0 at half time a superb comeback led by Harry Stockton saw BCS draw 3-3. THe weather had a huge effect with wind blowing straight down the pitch. The first half saw Warwick in the ascendency and they scored some great goals. The 2nd half was a complete reversal and BCS were probably unlucky not to win, that said Warwick passed the ball better than we did and this is a huge work on moving forward.

We have enjoyed a long tradition of competing against one another and the events always prove to be entertaining! It was neck and neck throughout the evening, wth Edgbaston High School pipping us this time! Well done to all who swam, especially the U8 girls!

U11A Boys’ Hockey v Hallfield School (H)
BCS 3 – 0 Hallfield
Player of the Match: Ben Southall
Blue Coat kept possession for the majority of the game and all that was missing was outcomes in front of goal. The structure looked superb with Ben Southall and John Meering in commanding roles in defence. Will Smallwood reads the game well and intercepted many passes through midfield. Looking forward to our next challenge at Solihull Friday.

U11B Boys’ Hockey v Hallfield School (H)
BCS B 11 – 0 Hallfield B
Player of the Match: Ali Ahmad
It can be hard to keep motivated and structured when the score line becomes as one sided as it did. With that in mind, the U11B’s showed true class and sportsmanship to remain disciplined and focussed throughout this match. Ali Ahmad proved pinnacle to the team in both attack and defence with superb stick control and passing of the ball. Freddy Williams, Richard M-S and James Protherough provided width to the attack, playing the ball into the D with excellent ball speed D for Alessandro to top up his goal count.
