U8B Netball v Hallfield School (H)

BCS 6-0 Hallfield

Player of the match: Serena Wadhwa

What an exciting game for the girls this afternoon, despite nerves they got into the game really quickly, enjoying the pace of the netball and estabished a convincing lead very early on. This made them even more confident and willing to listen to advice and make changes to the line up. Tarini was super cool and collected in the shooting area and Rosie worked on both defence at the start then attack towards the latter half of the game – proving very effective in both positions. The girls should be proud of themselves as they worked together as a team and smiled throughout. Well done!

U11A & B Netball v Solihull School (A)

BCS 0-18 Solihull

Player of the match: Indira Singh

With nearly all of Solihull U11 A team playing for a team out of school we were against it from the start. We did our best in defence trying to stick with players more experienced than ourselves but couldn’t cope with their movement in the shooting circle. The girls did really well to keep going and tried their hardest ensuring Solihull only scored 1 goal in the final quarter.

U11A Netball Tournament at Warwick Prep School

An early start for our girls ending their school week with a Round Robin Tournament in Warwick. We had a mixed set of results losing 4 matches (one of which we only lost by 1 goal) and winning 3. Overall we found we were strong in our defence with some cracking interceptions made but we have to work on retaining possession. The shooting pair are finally coming together and we scored 28 goals throughout the tournament and only conceded 32 goals. The improvement we are making is good as we are starting to work together more cohesively.

U11B Netball Tournament at Warwick Prep School

Player of the match: Aqeelah Hussain

A lovely crisp sunny morning to play lots of exciting Netball at the U11 Netball tournament over at Warwick School. The girls played really well; they listened to everything I asked of them and they tried their hardest. The opposition teams where really strong and in many of the games outplayed us. The girls didn’t drop their heads though and at times in every game they demonstrated some clean interceptions and passed down the court into space. They encouraged each other and communicated well together on court, which was great to see. An enjoyable morning of Netball and a great experience for the girls.

U10A Netball v King’s Hawford (A)

BCS 18-4 King’s Hawford

Player of the match:Harleena Grewal

On a cold and blustery afternoon Blue Coat drove down to King’s Hawford. We were met by their teacher and the girls were very excited to hear we were playing inside. This created a new challenge as the court was very small which highlighted the need to set, hold space and time the run . Blue Coat adapted well and quickly stormed into the lead with some excellent shooting. At times we crowded the court and gave the ball away but when we drove forward the girls played some great netball. A confident win girls, well done.

U11A v RGS The Grange & King’s Hawford

BCS 2-1 RGS BCS 2 -2 Kings H

Player of the match: Adam Bashir

Having lost to RGS twice recently this was a fantastic performance by the U11As who thorough deserved the victory against a very good side. Bashir was the star of the show with two fantastic goals, but this was a whole team performance where we restricted RGS to very few chances. Smallwood and Protherough in midfield shut down the passing options for RGS effectively and in truth it could have been more comprehensive if we had taken our chances. The came against Kings Hawford was a bit of an “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” performance where we were sloppy in possession in the first half and lack concentration at the back. This improved after half time though and the boys showed great resilience to level the score with the last kick of the game.

U11A Netball v King’s Hawford (H)

Mrs Bennett BCS 9-14 Kings Hawford

Player of the match: Indira Singh

We started off really well and took a 3-2 lead with some great movement and inter play from the attack of Indi, Delina and Simran. With Anya playing in a new position she did well to hold her space and gain possession of the ball. Whilst we always maintain discipline in defence in the second and third quarter we lost our momentum and simply took our foot off the gas. Good when marking one to one with the defence pulling off some great interceptions but on too many occasions we gave the ball back to the opposition. We won the final quarter 3 -1 but King’s Hawford had made too much of a dent in the score to pull this back.

U11B Netball v King’s Hawford (H)

BCS 8- 10 King’s Hawford

Players of the match: Jia Samra, Ishani Shah, Anya Bansal, Glory Benjamin

A game of two halves! In the first half we were slow off the mark, making silly mistakes and therefore lots of unforced errors. We had a few opportunities to score but were unable to finish. The girls looked nervous and took a while to settle into the game, ending the first half 0-5 to King’s Hawford. However, after a half time talk and determined to turn the game around, the girls showed just what they were made of winning the second half. They turned lots of balls over, passed the ball to the moving player, eliminated a lot of their errors and had lots of opportunities to shoot and managed to score 5 goals in the third quarter. Going into the final quarter the score was 5-8. Still with some work to do the girls fought for every ball, they were snatching the ball and made quicker and better decisions. We managed to score another 3 goals, however King’s Hawford were fighting for every ball too and didn’t want to lose a game that they had dominated in the first half. The final score was 8-10. A fair result and one the girls should be proud of. Well done to Anya Bansal for stepping into GS for the first time ever and scoring two beautiful goals under pressure! A good team effort though, keep it up!
