This has been an incredible week of music-making at BCS. Celebrating the opening of the 2020 Music Festival, the first-round heats have taken place. It has been my privilege to hear 138 children perform and the depth and breadth of talent amongst our pupils never ceases to amaze me. To have so many of them play this week really reinforces what an incredible group of musicians we have.

In total 93 children have been selected to go through to the semi-finals on Monday 9 March. Our guest adjudicator, Ms Iona Zuderwejk, has the unenviable task of choosing the class winners who will then go forward day to perform in the Gala Concert later that evening.

The Music Festival culminates with the announcing of the winner of the coveted title of BCS Young Musician of the Year 2020. This wonderful evening is open to all, so do please come along and support the class winners. Monday 9th March at 6pm.

SPRING CONCERT – The Messiah by G F Handel

On Saturday 28 March the Chapel Choir, accompanied by the BCS Choral Society, soloists, and an orchestra of professional musicians will perform Handel’s majestic oratorio ‘The Messiah’. Perhaps one of the best-loved pieces of choral music, is being performed for the first time in the School’s history.

Come and join the performers for this incredible evening. I would urge all families to put the date in your diary – even if your children are not taking part, because you and they will be amazed and enriched by coming to see and hear this piece of music.

Tickets are free for children under 16, and are available here for adults, students, unwaged or OAPS

The concert starts at 6pm (not 7 as advertised on the calendar) so get your tickets now – we expect this event to be a sell-out so don’t delay!
