U9 Boys’ Football Tournament hosted by RGS The Grange
In the Group Stages we had an excellent start to the tournament winning v Moor Park 4-0. This set expectations high and the boys were playing with fluency and directness. Against a well organised King’s St. Alban’s team we achieved our second win 2-0, with the goals coming late on, but again we didn’t look flustered. Next it was RGS The Grange who we had played in a friendly earlier on in the year. This was a comfortable win 1-0, although the scoreline could have been higher.
In the Semi-Final we controlled the match and put lots of pressure on Winterfold. The scoreline doesn’t really do the boys hard work justice. They had many attempts but the shots were hit over the bar. Again many corners were generated but without an outcome. However excellent composure from Arjun Gill in a one on one with the goal keeper sealed our route to the final.
In the Final we played King’s Hawford. This was our most testing and evenly matched game of the day. Both teams hit the post, but couldn’t take their opportunities. The game went into extra time with a golden goal. Blue Coat won a corner, James Longworth crossed into the box, and on the half volley, Remy Granger scored to win the tournament for Blue Coat!
The boys didn’t look flustered at any point during the day, not a single goal was conceded, with Jonty Scurlock touching the ball a ‘handful’ of times. A lovely balance to the team, the boys should be proud of themselves. Well done!
