U11A IAPS Netball Tournament at Uppingham School
After a very long journey to Uppingham the pupils were super excited to get going and start our first match. We played against Yarm who were very strong and whilst we did well in centre court we could not stop them scoring and we lost 7-0. In the second match versus Ratcliffe college we drew 4-4 and we held our own in the circle and retained our centre passes. Our third match could have gone either way against Laxton; we eventually lost 8-5 after they scored on our centre pass and pulled away. Our final match in the league against Kimbolton was a draw as the pupils started to look more cohesive as a team. We unfortunately did not progress through to the Cup but we did get to play a friendly against Stephen Perse school and we won this match by 2 goals so this was a great way to finish our day. The girls did really well to remain positive in the cold weather and had a thoroughly great day playing lots of netball.

U10A Football v Warwick Junior School (H)
BCS 0-3 Warwick
Player of the Match: Harry Forty
If only corners counted as goals! This game followed a very similar pattern to the first game against Warwick. BCS had most of the early possession but failed to score and were hit on the counter by a sweeping Warwick attack. Two early 2nd half goals gave Warwick a commanding lead but in fairness the game was much closer than the scoreline suggests with BCS having most of the ball after this point. The boys must improve their shooting though as this really cost them dearly in this game.

U10B Football v Warwick Junior School (H)
BCS 2 – 2 Warwick
Player of the Match: Henry Coughlan
A really good game between two evenly matched sides ended in a draw which was a fair result. BCS showed some excellent interplay to earn a 2-1 lead but got pegged back just before the end.

U10C Football v Warwick Junior School (H)
BCS 4 – 0 Warwick
Toby Smoldon scored two influential goals in the first half before stepping up to the B team. The C team managed to get ahead early, with some excellent passing between Kush Rupal and Joel Drake, having the confidence to pass across long distances. This opened up the game for Toby Smoldon to score two fantastic right foot goals. In the second half Joel Drake took the game to Warwick and they just couldn’t get out of their half. Superb pressure led to two more goals and a deserved victory.

U10D Football v Warwick Junior School (H)
BCS 8 – 1 Warwick
Daniel Du had a superb work ethic along with his 4 goals for the D team! The D team were on fire. Led by Aryan Sharma and Inigo Hodge in the middle of the pitch, taking excellent defensive positions and allowing Daniel Du and John Cibelli to take advantage upfront. As the scoreline suggests it was a one sided affair with our boys having such a fun afternoon on the University Astro pitches.

U10A Netball v Eversfield School (H)
BCS 10-4 Eversfield
Player of the Match: Zuva M-Redmond
Blue Coat got off to a strong start, accurate shooting and well worked passes into the D allowed us to take an early lead in the first quarter 4-1. The girls continued to build on this and some dominant defence made it hard for Eversfield to get into our D. The half time score was 7-1. In the second half Eversfield made some positional changes in defence and the game got a lot tighter, our girls had to work really hard to get the ball into the D, driving forward and getting in front of their defender. Final score finished 10-4.

U10 C & D and Red & Blue v Solihull (H)
BCS C Team 1-1, BCS Blue 1-0, BCS D Team 0-0, BCS Red 1-0
Player of the Match: Kenza Kachloul
In order for all girls in Year 5 to represent the School we had both the C and Blue team play Solihull Cs and we had the D and Red team play against Solihull Ds. Each match was played in good spirit as the girls showed how they have progressed with their netball skills. I saw some good interceptions from Alveena and Kenza and Lola was sprinting into space to try and keep the attack going. There was vast improvement seen from Matilda, Anuva and Rebecca and Charlie, Yandy and Keya were working hard to get the ball to the attack. It was great to see all the Year 5 girls competing on a day where we had 6 teams playing netball that afternoon.

U11A Netball v WGJS (A)
BCS 15- 9 WGJS
Player of the Match: Delina Elias
This was a match where the team really showed their growth as players in terms of positional awareness as we had to play 3 quarters without a WD. This meant whilst the attacking quartet of Simran, Delina, Sofia and Indira could dominate from centre passes to ensure goals, we had to adjust tactically in defence. Jessie and Amrita worked so hard to bring the ball up from the goals. Indira was being double marked but was still very determined to get free and receive passes. Our team spirit did not die and we continued to encourage each other to work harder to make up for the missing player. A great win girls, showing your ability to adapt.

U11 B Netball v WGJS (A)
BCS 4-4 WGJS
Player of the Match: Gloriosa Sung
A wet and cold afternoon of Netball playing against Wolverhampton Grammar School. A close game throughout, with the ball going end to end. The girls did well to keep possession though and at the third quarter time the score was 2-4 to us. However, Wolverhampton Grammar came out in the last quarter with the desire to fight back, making it more difficult for us. The wind didn’t help passing either, with there being lots of dropped balls. Even though we had more chances at goal than the opposition, we were unable to score and the final score was 4-4. A little disappointing as we were 2 goals ahead, but it just proves the game doesn’t end until the final whistle. The girls as ever played with good spirit. Well done girls!

U11C Netball v EHS (A)
BCS 2-10 EHS
Player of the Match: Breshna Mohmanda
On a cold and wet afternoon the girls were still excited to play a fixture against their local rivals. It was a tough match for our girls as EHS were tall and had a very accurate shooter. Blue Coat worked hard to get the ball down court but at times found ourselves hiding behind defenders which lead to turn overs and the ball being thrown away. The girls kept going until the final whistle and it was great to see them rewarded with a few goals.
