U10A Rugby v Hampton School, Surrey (H)
BCS 4-7 Hampton
Player of the Match: Harry Forty
What a privilege it was to host Hampton School – a touring side from Surrey. Considering most of our boys haven’t played rugby since before Christmas, we did extremely well. The boys ran hard at the opposition and as the game progressed they got better at looking for the pass or offload. When we pushed up hard in defence, Hampton struggled to break through and the boys put in some good tackles. Both teams looked to keep the ball alive and it was an exciting attacking game of rugby. At the end Hampton presented the school with a ball and tie to thank Blue Coat for hosting.

U9A Netball v Hallfield School (A)
BCS 8-3 Hallfield
Scorers: Lois Hughes, Susie Tomlinson, Anusha Singh, Anya Kapil
Player of the Match: Lois Hughes
A wet afternoon didn’t make for the best playing conditions against Hallfield on Tuesday. The surface meant that it was more difficult to change direction and the ball being wet made it hard to catch. Therefore, it wasn’t the prettiest of games. Having said that the girls persevered and still showed a natural flair for the game, once again showing that many of them are all round Netballers and are able to play in a variety of different positions. The girls tried some different tactics today, for example playing off the line on centre passes. They respond really well to feedback making them a great group of girls to teach. We need to work on our defending skills as we tend to mark with our arms across, where we need to move our feet and use our hips to keep the player off the ball. A well deserved win 8-3.

U9B Netball v Hallfield School (A)
BCS 9-0 Hallfield
Player of the Match: Rosa Lester
On a wet and windy afternoon the girls got off to a strong start. We were much more alert than Hallfield, sprinting into space and passing the ball down the court quickly. In defence we marked tightly and leapt for the interceptions. The girls rotated around their positions and it was great to see them all shoot, defend and attack with confidence.

U11A Netball v EHS (H)
BCS 7-7 EHS
Player of the Match: Maysoon Haroon
After losing by one recently to EHS, the girls had a point to prove and certainly started off with real intent. Jessie held the whole of centre court together and her movement over the court was very graceful. Simran and Delina worked well in attack and Delina had to re think her game plan as she was being heavily marked by her opponent. Anya and Amrita did well to support Jessie in defence and in attack as we kept the ball from interceptions. Ishani worked hard to contain the shooter and got some good rebounds from goal. Maysoon really stepped up her game play as she outplayed the Goal attack who was at least 1 foot taller than her. I was really impressed with the teams support for one another as this was a tightly contested match between the two schools.

U10A Netball v EHS (H)
BCS 10-0 EHS
Player of the Match: Zuva
What a performance from our Year 5 girls! The girls were not intimidated by playing Year 6 girls and really rose to the challenge. Blue Coat used their speed and agility to get in front of their defender and passed the ball quickly down the court. Excellent movement in the D by Claire and Alex allowed us to feed our shooters and we soon took a comfortable lead. The girls kept the pressure on and played some excellent netball. They should be really proud of their performance – well done girls!

U10A & U11A Swimming Gala v Holy Trinity School (H)
BCS 142 – 138 Holy Trinity
Swimmer of the Gala: Milo Dowling
A brilliant and thoroughly entertaining evening of swimming with Blue Coat taking the narrowest of victories over Holy Trinity. Both schools are renowned for their swimming, with Holy Trinity being crowned Midland Schools’ National Champions last year and Blue Coat enjoying similar fetes in previous years. Throughout the evening there were closely fought races, with some great performances by both schools. Star of the gala goes to Milo Dowling for his excellent performances. At the end of the evening the gala finished BCS 142 – 138 Holy Trinity.

U9A Football v Hallfield School & Kings Hawford (A)
BCS 4 – 0 Hallfield / BCS 2 – 1 Kings Hawford
Player of the Match: Silas Saha and Kanav Biswas, making their names known in the A team for relentless pressing of the ball and key contributions
Excellent to play some grass football and the pitches were tight at Hallfield. This created awesome team play goals, with slick passing through midfield and creating space in the box. We rotated players through positions with Jackson Bennett finding the goal, playing as a forward. Arjun Gill and James Longworth contributed all over the pitch with a real blend of cohesiveness in their play. We were comfortable winners v Hallfield, but found ourselves 1-0 down v King’s Hawford. So to see a fightback and quality we possess was really pleasing. Silas Saha got us back to 1-1 with a superb steal and bottom corner shot. Arjun Gill converted in the second half from a wide pass into the box and we held firm for the last 5 minutes.

U9B Football v Hallfield School (A)
BCS 5 -1 Hallfield
Player of the Match: Harry Stockton
Another excellent performance by the U9B team with fantastic performances all over the pitch. Wilf Crow-Marcetic at the back reading the play very well, to Harry Stockton in midfield driving forward and displaying great energy to Milo Todd up front scoring a number of goals. I was most impressed though with the way they passed the ball about looking for players in space all the time, well played boys!

U8A1 Football v Hallfield School (A)
BCS 4 – 0 & 7-0 Hallfield
Player of the Match: Noah Olatayo-Moses
A fantastic performance by the A1’s saw them deliver a resounding victory against Hallfield. What impressed me the most was their willingness to play good football and pass the ball around the opposition. Noah Olatayo-Moses played fantastically in both games showing great vision, speed, balance and finishing ability. He also sets the standards in terms of desire and work ethic which is fantastic.

U8A2 Football v Hallfield School (A)
BCS 0-0 & 4 – 1 Hallfield
Player of the Match: Toby Williams
The A2’s were just as dominant playing some great football with the pick of the goals being an exquisite cross by Tom Williams for Sam Sapey to head home. They were dominant in both games and but for some fantastic goalkeeping in the first game would have been comfortable winners in both games.
