Pupils in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 have been admiring poetry this week, while sharing an age appropriate anthology of poems, and all participated in the ‘BCS Reciting Poetry by Heart Week, 2020’. After observing some professionals at work performing their poems, including James Carter who visited BCS last year, the children were supported to learn a chosen poem by heart and perform it to others! All the pupils participated, even those working from home, and fully rose to the challenge. Please do take a look at some of the fun we had below in English this week within our ‘bubbles’ including clips of Jacob in Year 4, Anna in Year 3 and Idris in Year 2 reciting their poems.
“Learning the poem was so much fun and I really enjoyed adding actions as well!” Year 2 pupil.
“I enjoyed trying to add facial expressions when performing my poem just like Michael Rosen does.” Year 2 pupil.
“It has been great to recite poetry by heart in English! It added some exciting variety to our learning.” Tom, Bubble 4G (4SB).
