What does the word ‘hero’ mean to you?
What kinds of things do heroes do?
How do we recognise heroes?
Do you need to be physically strong to be a hero?
Who is a hero to you?

These were questions posed to Year 4 in the Lent Term in preparation for the children to decide on a hero for the Year 4 Heroes Evening which was due to take place on Wednesday 25th March. The children were asked to develop a visual display about the life story, achievements and successes of their chosen hero and to explain why they are a hero to them.

Unfortunately, the celebratory interactive exhibition was unable to go ahead as planned, so we asked for photographs of any completed presentations to be sent into school. It is clear from the photographs the amount of thought, time and care that has gone into the children’s displays and the Year 4 teachers are very impressed by the standard of the children’s work. It has been so interesting for us to look at the displays prepared by Year 4 and also to see the many and varied people who have been chosen as their heroes.

The Year 4 teachers would like to say a huge thank you to the children for their wonderful work and also to remind Year 4 that they are all heroes in our eyes! These photographs have been compiled into a presentation which will be shown to all Year 4 children next Thursday, 9th July. It will also be uploaded to the Phase Four Distance Learning Google Classroom for those children working at home.
