Congratulations to Siyuan in Year 5 who was one of only ten girls nationally to make it through to the Delancey UK Chess Challenge Terafinal earlier this month.

Believed to be the first BCS girl to qualify for the Terafinal, Siyuan can be rightly proud of her achievement. Only the top 0.5% of entrants to this, the largest chess tournament in the world, make it through to the final stage of the competition, aptly named the Terafinal.

Siyuan’s twin sister Siyao also played very well in 7 rounds of Gigafinal competition battling against highly experienced opponents. Unfortunately, she was just 0.5 points short to qualify and join her sister in the Terafinal.

A huge thanks to Mr Fallowfield for his chess coaching and we look forward to following Siyao and Siyuan achievements in the new chess competition season!
