After recently securing our Eco Green Flag award, we have formed an Eco Committee in Year 5 to carry on the hard work of trying to ensure The Blue Coat School is an Eco-friendly school and that we are doing all we can to take care of our environment in and out of school and are encouraging others to do the same.

Our new Eco Committee members are: Ria and Krish (5BH); Kanav, Emma and Sofia (5VF); Luca and Riah (5JM); Maya and Yashna (5SW) and Wilf and Isabella (5AG).

We have had a busy few weeks within the Eco Committee: forming environment focused poems and raps for our new intranet site; carrying out our own research and producing posters to enter a competition by the University of Birmingham about plastic pollution; carrying out reviews of our environment to identify areas we need to try to improve such as waste, energy use and healthy living; forming an action plan with our goals for the year and finally planting trees in our forest school area! We have had a lot of fun so far and there will be some whole school involvement very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Miss Fiellateau

On Thursday morning the Prep Eco Committee joined forces with the Pre-Prep Eco Committee to brave the elements and plant eight trees, with one tree planted for each Year Group. These will have the children’s Christmas Prayers hung on them next week. Well done teams. You worked really hard in wet and muddy conditions!

Mr Isherwood
