Year 6 Christmas Movie comes to Chapel!

We ended the term with a very special Prep Christmas service in Chapel, where the Year 6 nativity was premiered on a huge movie-style screen! Each year group came to see the film and were mesmerised by what they saw.

Year 6 have been working hard throughout the half term to put together the film, shot in various locations around the school site. Produced by Mrs Drake, amid Akehurst and Mr Nicklin, the school fields became home to the Shepherds, Forest school housed the stable and various staff members became innkeepers. Wise men studied in the school library and Herod and his henchman plotted in the boardroom! Every member of Year 6 had a role to play and the film will go home to families so that it can be treasured as a memory of their final Christmas at Blue Coat. A special thank you to Mrs Lynn, Miss Levett, Mr Isherwood and Mrs Walker for their support in making this so special.

The Christmas services focussed on the theme of ‘Jesus the light of the world’. Chaplain lit the Advent wreath in Chapel as a reminder of the everlasting light of Jesus, and a child from each class across Prep prayed. The services ended with all the children joining in with ‘O Come all ye faithful’- but instead of singing along, they signed along! The classes have been practising British Sign Language as an alternative way to join in with this classic Christmas carol. Once again, Covid has forced us once again to think outside the box, and Christmas in Chapel has been no less special as a result!
