Dancing, fitness, hand/eye coordination…. nothing is stopping Pre-Prep PE at The Blue Coat school.
The Children in Pre-Prep have been working hard to stay active during lockdown and they have been superstars. I think the fitness session with Mr Gregory and Mr Melia has been a challenge for some, but the children have shown a real resilience and determination to stick with it and keep going…..a great attitude to have in this current climate and a mindset which will help them when they face life’s challenges.
We also have some real little movers & groovers amongst us. The children have been learning about the Hand Jive. A dance which was created in the 1950’s due to limited space and one which was perfect to learn and explore, whether we were at home in the kitchen or at school in the classroom. From hand jiving, to twisting, clapping and jumping, the children embraced it, revitalising us all on a damp, dark winter’s afternoon.
Games has also been on the agenda and Mr Gregory and I have been very impressed with the enthusiasm the children have shown on a Friday afternoon. Hand/eye coordination is key to many sporting activities and the children have worked hard to practise and maintain their skill level with their ‘make shift’ sports equipment. Pom poms, paper balls, tin lids, frying pans have all worked a treat.
Thank you very much to those of you that have shared a sporting photograph or two with us. It has been lovely to see the children in action and smiling.
