In the first week back after half term, Year 2 have already been extremely productive. They have been focusing on a book called ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Catastrophe and so in Creative Arts , the children have looked at lighthouses and the work of an artist called Maud Lewis.

She painted sea landscapes where she lived. These were very simple but effective. She kept them straightforward because she suffered from arthritis and found it difficult to draw and paint. Here are some of our ‘Lighthouse compositions’ in a variety of media, based on her clear, bold technique. I’m sure that you’ll agree that the children have done themselves proud! Great compositions Year 2!
