The sun shone for Year 1 on their Enrichment Day. They were introduced to the new science topic of plants by a walk around the school grounds. Mr Allmark introduced the children to the different variety of trees and some of the plants that were growing in the flowerbeds. He explained which would produce flowers or fruits and got the children to use their sense of smell to hunt out the lavender and rosemary bushes. The learning continued in the classroom with the dissecting of a flower, looking carefully at all the different parts. The children then created their own flower using a wide range of materials and correctly labelled it. The morning was a lovely, informative start to the science topic and they are now looking forward to their next science lesson when they will be planting their own bean seed.
