Last week, our School Caterers, Holroyd Howe, launched BCS Healthy Eating Week.
We welcomed Sally Haines to talk to the Prep children and they were asked to make a food diary to record their healthy eating over the coming week. Mr Moss is looking forward to reviewing these next week and there will prizes for the best entries.
On Friday, it was also non-uniform day to support Holroyd Howe’s nominated charity, Children of the Mountain. Mr Moss challenged the children to come dressed in the colours of their favourite fruit or vegetable. Mr Moss as we know, does not shy away from fancy dress and his pineapple costume was matched by some fantastic outfits in Pre-Prep. Oranges, apples, rhubarb, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, carrots…and so the list continued as the children delighted us with an array of colour. Winners from each year group were chosen to receive a fruit bowl.
Prep children had the opportunity to purchase some healthy smoothie drinks at break, which went down very well! This was added to our non-uniform monies and came to a total of £1085.45 raised. Thank you for your support.
This week the children have continued to think and discuss the benefits of eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. The catering team have provided a selection of more unusual crudités for the Pre-Prep children to sample after their lunch, as well as enhancing the daily menu and signposting healthy choices. Reception played fruit bingo and Years 1 and 2 also made their own delicious fruit salads.
