On Wednesday 23rd of June, I got the fantastic opportunity to be on the judging panel of Solutions For The Planet’s Big Ideas Competition. The competition is to bring young people from all around the UK to share their ‘Big Ideas’ that can make life better for so many different people in so many different ways.

This came about after I walked in on a conversation Jen Baughan was having with my mum for work, about her social value initiatives for young people and schools. From that short conversation, she requested a one-to-one chat with me. During this conversation, she said my passion for environmental and social activism really shone through and invited me to sit on the judging panel for the finals of the competition.

In the run-up to the big day, lots of preparation took place as I went through and marked 13 presentations, introduction videos and business plans of each team. On the day, it was so nice to meet the teams and hear them in person, virtually! I worked hard and after lots of time and consideration and a few mugs of hot chocolate, the rest of the judges and I made our decision on the winners…

It was a really valuable and rewarding experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope to be getting involved with Solutions For The Planet soon again!
