As the Christmas Card competition across Pre-Prep and Prep was a big success in 2020, we are setting the challenge once again over the half term holiday. In addition, this competition allows parents to buy professional printed Christmas cards with their child’s design, ideal to send to family and friends over the festive period.

On Thursday, the children should have brought home a blank A4 page, on which they should produce their Christmas card design. We would encourage the children to plan their design on a separate piece of paper before working on the final version. A list of dos and don’ts can be found HERE, which should be read carefully, and I have also produced a short video for you to watch with some further guidance below:

Miss Moore’s Video Introduction to the Christmas Card Competition:

The final designs must be handed back to your child’s Class Teacher or Form Tutor no later than Tuesday 2 November, the second day back after half term.

In Prep, all completed entries will receive 1 House Point, there will be highly commended entries earning 5 House Points, and the winning boy and girl in each year group will receive 10 House Points. As an added incentive, the school will print its own copies of the winning entries to use as BCS Christmas Cards for 2021.

On the reverse side of the blank A4 page, parents should complete the required detail sections. Once the school has received all entries on Tuesday 2 November, we will judge the winners of the competition and then send all designs to Xmas4schools. Once the company receives these, parents will receive an email and text message with information on how you can order professionally printed Christmas cards with your child’s design. The online ordering portal will only stay open for 5 days, so parents will need to be prompt in making orders.

There is no requirement for children to take part in this competition, or for parents to order printed cards from Xmas4schools. However, the Headmaster’s House Cup in Prep continues to provide a lot of excitement, so we expect there to be a number of fantastic entries. In addition, £1.00 from each order made with Xmas4schools will be donated to The Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Have a wonderful half term.
